We all had a great time in the English Lake District with our two Americans from Colorado. It was in October, not the best time to go to the Lakes but this time we were quite lucky. We took them to the highest point in England; Scafell Pike, OK so it was misty up there but we had stunning views on the way up and down, I must admit that I had forgotten what a great hike it is on the 'Corridor Route' We had a lot of rain the previous night and so the waterfalls where in full flow, as there is not a lot of water in Colorado they loved it all.
The Fairfield horseshoe (loop) was next on our list. Another fine day with blue skies and occasional mist, we all took our time and enjoyed the views. Starting at Grasmere, we did the loop clockwise, ending up at Ambleside to drop in to the pub called the Golden Rule My, that pint went down well.
We then went on the Buttermere Round taking in Scales force (waterfall) Red Pike, Haystacks and Fleetwith Pike, the views from these mountains are terrific.
Come and join us one day!!!
